Design ideas that still scan

Match the eyes (corner squares) to your brand colour and keep the data modules dark. A rounded or dot module style looks softer on premium card stock, and a circle or badge shape can echo a round logo — the live scan check confirms each combination. Avoid placing the code over a photo or pattern, and leave the quiet zone clear of the card's trim line: printers typically cut within 2–3 mm of the edge.

Front or back?

Put the code on the back if the front is your brand statement, but add a hint like “Scan to save my contact ↓” on the front. On minimalist cards a small code in the corner of the front works well, as long as it stays above the minimum size.

Frequently asked questions

How big should a QR code on a business card be?

At least 2 cm × 2 cm (0.8 in), and around 2.5 cm for a full vCard. A business card is scanned from 10–25 cm away, which suits that size.

vCard or link — which is better?

A vCard saves your details directly and works offline but makes a denser code. A short link to your website or LinkedIn makes a simpler code and can be updated on the website side.

What file should I send to my printer?

SVG or PDF. Both are vector for solid-colour designs, so they print perfectly sharp at any size. Use the PDF 'Print size' option to get the exact physical dimensions.

Can I use brand colours?

Yes, but keep the code dark on a light background with strong contrast. The preview warns if contrast is too low.
