What each QR type encodes

A QR code is just text arranged as a grid of squares. What makes a phone open a browser, join a network or save a contact is the format of that text. MyQRGenerator writes it for you:

Make sure it scans

The preview runs an independent decoder on every change and shows Scan verified when the design reads back exactly. It also warns about the common failure causes — weak contrast, inverted colours, small quiet zones and oversized logos. Read why QR codes fail to scan for the full checklist.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum amount of data in a QR code?

A version 40 QR code holds up to 2,953 bytes of text at error correction level L, or 1,273 bytes at level H. Non-Latin characters take 2–4 bytes each. In practice, keep content short: smaller codes are easier to scan.

What's the difference between the QR types?

They change the text that's encoded. A Wi-Fi code stores 'WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;;', a vCard stores a contact card, a URL just stores the link. Phones recognise each format and offer the right action.

Which error correction level should I choose?

M is a good default. Use Q or H when you add a logo or the code will be printed on rough or curved surfaces. Higher levels make the code denser, so it needs to be printed a bit larger.

Can I generate many QR codes at once?

Yes — use the Bulk QR Code Generator to turn a CSV or a list of links into a ZIP of PNG or SVG files.
